The canvas cross country HQ was packed away for this season on Saturday, when the final race of the 2014/15 Manchester Area Cross Country League closed the series at Wythenshawe Park.
Bramhall Runners vests have swamped the boggy courses in all weathers and have maintained an impressive competitive standing from our entry into the league in 2013. Well done to everyone that contributed to an inspiring turnout for all races, its great to see the club represented and your fellow runners supported whether you are running just one, or all races. To receive an overall ranking for the series a runner needs to compete in four out of the five races. Bramhall Runners taking part this year were Frank Podd, Matt Moran, Phil Ramsey, Mark Corcoran, Lok Li, Mike Hodson, Richard Hall, Steve Fairclough, John Williams 1, John Williams 2, Richard Hall, James Hall, Steve Hughes, Adam Bird, John Wiseman, Phil Evans, Emma Hill, Emma Young, Caroline Austen, Jennie Pickard, Claire Stott, Ali Sheedy, Nicola Lloyd, Cath Jones, Jo Podolanski, Clara Jarvis, Katie Haynes, Cameron Murdoch and Joseph Byrne – brilliant running everyone!
Bramhall hospitality as always was unrivalled – so a massive thanks to all cake bakers, helpers and base camp builders that braved the elements to ensure runners and supporters were fuelled and sheltered.
Are you tempted to take part in the next league, but you’ve not tried it before and think its only for the hardcore? Give it a go! We’ve seen some of our most dedicated tarmac junkies be enticed by the Manchester marshes – its excellent strength and resilience training and mentally rewarding. Any member at any level can participate in cross country, for just the occasional race or full series of five taking place monthly October to February at Woodbank Park, Sherdley Park, Boggart Hole Clough, Heaton Park and Wythenshawe Park. A reason to look forward to winter!
